CODE KNACKER
This project investigates the typographic density of Berlin’s Neukölln district, where urban signage becomes so layered and fragmented that text transforms into abstract pattern. By digitally deconstructing and reconfiguring these textual elements, the work invites viewers to engage more actively with their surroundings—seeking meaning where language begins to dissolve.
The resulting sculptures, made from digitally printed and mirror paper, reflect and distort their environment, visually amplifying the chaotic beauty of Neukölln’s signage. These pieces function both as disruptions and extensions of the urban landscape, immersive visual forms that blur the line between communication and abstraction.
Featured in TYPE/SPACE Atlas (University of the Arts Berlin, Julia Volkmar), the project stems from a wider exploration of writing in space: a study of how typography operates in physical contexts and how meaning shifts through placement, layering, and fragmentation.
